El Nino was born on January 2, 1999, in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic. This youngster is the son of Fernando Tatis Sr., a former Major League Baseball player. He was naturally athletic and had a passion for baseball even as a child. Robinson Canó, a fellow Dominican MLB star, assisted the young man in honing his skills. This youngster was signed as an international free agent from the Dominican Prospect League by the Chicago White Sox in 2015. This two-time Silver Slugger Award winner was traded to the Padres by the White Sox on June 4, 2016. In 2016, he split his time between the Rookie-level Arizona League Padres and the Class A-Short Season Northwest League's Tri-City Dust Devils. El Nino played in the Class A Midwest League for the Fort Wayne TinCaps and the Class AA Texas League for the San Antonio Missions in 2017. He also played 17 games at shortstop for the Dominican Winter League's Estrellas de Oriente in 2017–18.
