Couple Take Their Dog to the Vet, the Woman Slips Staff a Note Begging for Help

Publish date: 2024-06-28

A woman had found herself in a life-or-death situation. Using all the courage she could muster, she begged a woman for assistance, but would the possible hero step up or ignore her pleas?

Abusive relationships can range from emotional, mental, and physical harassment and can even lead to murder in some tragic cases.

Growing awareness around these types of relationships means that many individuals are better at spotting them and helping where they can. Sadly, some choose to look the other way.

HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT

Wearing glasses and with bruises hidden under her clothes, in 2019, one woman was fully disguised in her everyday attire. She and her seemingly normal boyfriend visited the veterinarian with their dog.

While she did have hope that she could maybe alert someone at the hospital, Floyd had purportedly insisted that he go with her.

Everyone at the clinic didn't know that the 28-year-old Floridan Caroline Reichle had allegedly been held captive in her own home for the last 48 hours.

AN INGENIOUS PLAN

It was claimed that 39-year-old Jeremy Floyd consistently physically abused her. On top of that, he purportedly used a gun to intimidate her.

Desperate to get out of this hell-on-earth situation, Reichle convinced him to go to the Deland Animal Hospital for the dog.

While Reichle had hope that she could maybe alert someone at the hospital, Floyd purportedly insisted that he go with her, taking a gun with him to the clinic.

WOULD THEY HELP?

Luckily, she managed to get a moment out of his watchful eye, slipping a note to one of the ladies over the counter, which read:

"Call the cops. My boyfriend is threatening me. He has a gun. Please don't let him know."

Her life now lay in her hands. Fortunately, the lady and her co-worker immediately took action, getting hold of the police. The authorities arrived 15 minutes later, handcuffed Floyd, removed his gun, and took him away.

THE GORY AFTERMATH

As soon as he was gone, the abuse victim immediately began crying, explaining to the authorities what had happened and showing them her injuries.

The alleged abuser was meanwhile being held at the Volusia County Jail without bail. He had multiple charges laid against him, including but not limited to false imprisonment and simple battery.

The terrifying reality of abuse is that it can take place right under our noses, with many victims unable to leave, sometimes to the point of death.

A SIXTH SENSE

This sad phenomenon is why we should follow our gut when we feel as though something is suspicious. Thankfully, some baristas at a Starbucks in Texas did precisely this, taking heed of their intuition.

When a strange man began talking to an 18-year-old girl sitting in the cafe minding her own business, red lights went off. Employees noticed the encounter with a barista handing her a cup of hot chocolate.

There was a note on the cup from the employees. It stated that the teen should take the lid off the cup if she needed help. She was touched by the gesture but was perfectly safe and in control of the situation.

Although this teenager was okay, there are many instances where the Starbucks employees could have saved someone's life. So, we should continue looking out for one another, making sure to ward off monsters who only intend to harm.
